Appointing Andrew T. McReynolds a Captain of Dragoons, in a partially printed document, completed in a secretarial hand and signed by Marcy March 9, 1847; a further note orders McReynolds to report to Col. E. G. W. Butler in New Orleans. McReynolds entered the army with this appointment in the 3 rd U.S. Dragoons, serving in the battles of Contreras and Churubusco, where he was wounded; he later served as colonel and commander of the 1 st New York Cavalry, 1861-1864.
