Citronelle in the 1910s, as recorded through approximately 75 photographs affixed in a photograph album, picturing golfers on the local course, Lake Chautauqua, tennis competitors, the train depot, local residences, some with views of flower gardens, country scenery, etc., along with about 35 photographs picturing Cincinnati with flooded downtown streets, two of its racetracks across the river in Kentucky, and the city from Fort Thomas (7 photos), tennis players (5), and 23 miscellaneous portraits and city scenes
Commercial photograph album. 4to (25 cm). 50 black leaves (38 with 100 mounted photos; 10 others laid in; evidence of photograph removal on a number of leaves); 25 of the Citronelle photos and four Cincinnati photos include a small ink caption label nearby. The album was apparently assembled by George L. Seeley (1893-1981) who died in Citronelle and was buried there [his golfing opponents E. H. Herbel (1871-1958) and Lysle G. Jernigan (1893-1955) are also buried in Citronelle]; Seeley appears in six of the Citronelle golf course photos (there are eight, taken on at least four different holes) and two Citronelle tennis photos. The Chautauqua building, Chautauqua sand pit, and Lake Chautauqua are the subject of five photographs, and the Methodist Church, local school, train depot, and numerous private residences are represented. African-Americans appear in work related photos, lumbering and farming. The Cincinnati photos include images of flooded streets in the major event of April, 1913.
