Deerfield, NH: 1st Congressional District, State of New Hampshire (J. M. Whittemore & Co, Boston), September 11, 1863. Partially printed form, 5 x 8 inches, completed in manuscript and signed by James M. Lovering as Receiver of Commutation money, recording James M. Bachelder’s bounty payment of $300 for discharge from liability to serve in the “National Forces,” noting that he had been drafted for such service on August 12, 1863. This copy of the form noted as the “Original” in column to the left of the text. Old fold lines (one separation, repaired verso). Otherwise very good. Item #70151
