Two printed slips laid down on front pastedown: "Please notice and send copy containing notice to the publisher. Your favorable notice, suggestions, or assistance will be remembered with all gratitude" and "Price 50 cts. Sent free by mail on receipt of the price." Front hinge cracked. A printer's introduction reveals he has undertaken the financial risk of the book, thinking that "the public might be inclined to purchase and read a work by one of that class of native Americans, known as the Pennsylvania Dutch," and the printer notes he "has suppressed in all, eleven stanzas."
