Selling a parcel of land in Iowa County, Wisconsin, in a manuscript document, signed by Dodge and his wife Christiana, Sept. 1, 1855, transferring ownership of the property to the trust for the heirs of one John Haskins

Accompanied by three manuscript receipts, one for supplies purchased from “Floyd & Dodge,” May, 1840 – March, 1841, by Samuel Haskins (folio, 2-pages, very worn), one for property purchased from H. L. Dodge, June 1, 1843, by John & Samuel Haskins (half-sheet 4to, one-page, docketed verso), and one for supplies bought of Caron, Dean & Co., July 16, 1838, by Samuel Haskins (folio, one-page). Dodge, the first “American” born in Indiana Territory, was indicted for participating in the Burr Conspiracy (charges dropped) and commanded a mounted company on the frontier in the War of 1812 and a regiment in the Black Hawk War before being named Governor of Wisconsin Territory in 1838.
