Single sheet of letterhead stationery for Hutchins House, J.P. Horbach, Proprietor, 27 x 20 cm. approx. 65 words. Vignette of the hotel in the upper center of the sheet. Old fold lines, else very good. Horbach sends a brief letter of introduction for Mr. & Mrs. Richard Ennis of St. Louis to Mrs. Wm. Tobin, Vance House, in San Antonio, knowing she would "promote their comfort & a pleasant visit." Item #67360

William Tobin (1833-1884), a former Texas Ranger, converted the Vance Building into a hotel in the 1870s. His wife Josephine Smith was the daughter of a mayor of San Antonio.
