NP: np, 1894. Printed broadside on silk, 8 7/8 x 7 ¼ inches, title in bold capitals, triple-rule along left edge, text framed by two bold rules. Obituary for William Clement Gilman (1854-1894), born in Newberry, South Carolina, into an old S.C. family, educated at Wofford College and the University of Virginia (M.D.), and in Europe, practiced in New York City as a prominent eye and ear specialist and a member of a number of important professional associations, died in Ocala, Florida, as a “faithful member of the Episcopal Church, grounded in his faith” (when a boy, he constructed an altar in his family summer home in Saluda, North Carolina), and was buried in Newberry. Apparently not recorded on OCLC (but a copy illustrates an online obituary). Very good. Item #67244
