"ALFRED THE ALLIGATOR BOY," Born, Raised, and Educated in Savannah, Georgia [cover title]

(Cincinnati, OH: Billboard Publishing Co.), nd [ca. 1940]. First edition (?). 12mo (17 cm). Three-pages, title, verso with a one-page autobiographical sketch, recto of integral leaf with a standing portrait (dressed only in shorts and shoes and sox). Green was born with ichthyosis vulgaris and parlayed his scaly, thick skin into a sideshow act as an “alligator boy” (while pregnant with Alfred, his mother was supposedly frightened by an alligator) that supported him through the 1920s-1940s. Accompanied by a 3-page biographical sketch of Green’s life from Sideshow World. Apparently not recorded on OCLC. Original printed wrappers (paper browned). Old fold line, but very good. Item #67169

Price: $225.00
