First edition. 8vo. 33-48 pp. Hilliard (1808-1892), a native of North Carolina, read law and was admitted to the bar in Athens, Georgia, before moving to Alabama, where he served as a professor at the new university, 1831-1834, in various local political offices, and as a representative to the U.S. Congress, 1845-1851. During the Civil War he served as commander of an Alabama cavalry regiment and, following the conflict, he practiced law in Augusta and Atlanta, Georgia. OCLC locates one copy (Clements).
