Single sheet, folded to 10 x 8 in., [1] p. of text, approx. 120 words, two pages blank, addressed on fourth page to Henry & Cunningham, Van Buren [Arkansas], with a round stamp post mark for Fayetteville, Ark. Old fold lines, some old staining around edges. Jones places an additional order for supplies to be picked up by his son when he arrives in Van Buren which included 6 lbs. of gunpowder and 10 lbs. of lead. Jones mentions he'd also take coffee and sugar if a good quality and price not to high. Evan Jones established the Cherokee Baptist Mission in 1839, and also established the Cherokee Press in Indian Territory. In 1884 he began publishing a newspaper in Cherokee and English called the Cherokee Messenger. Item #67070
