PROSPECTUS OF THE TEXAS TRUNK RAILROAD COMPANY OF TEXAS. With Map Showing Line of Road and Branches. Also Copy of Charter, By-Laws, First Mortgage Bond, and Deed of Trust.

Dallas, Texas: General Office; Eastern Office, No. 7 Exchange Place, Boston, Mass. 1880. Black lettered salmon colored paper wrappers. 23 cm. 93 pp. Tipped in at the front of the pamphlet is a small broadside, on yellow paper, advertising Texas Trunk Railroad 7% First Mortgage Land Grant Bonds, for sale by Alvah A. Smith, 31 State Street, Boston. Laid in are two forms, partly printed, from the Office of Superintendent, Texas Trunk Railway, both listing the officers of the company for whom annual passes were requested. The space left to fill in the number of passes is unused, neither form has been signed. The map called for is not present, and was apparently not issued. OCLC records 13 listings, seven in Texas, most mentioning that the map is lacking. A very good, bright copy.
This railroad company line, incorporated in 1879, was to commence at the city of Dallas, running "thence southeastwardly through the wealthy, fertile and well-settled counties of Dallas, Kaufman, Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Angelina, Tyler, Hardin, and Jefferson, to a point on the Gulf of Mexico at or near Sabine Pass, an estimated distance of 300 miles." A branch line through the counties of Jasper and Newton, a distance of about 50 miles, was also to be constructed. The agricultural and mineral resources and beneficial climate of the state are enthusiastically promoted. Item #67059
