Gessner (1730-1788) was “the most successful and typical representative of a rococo movement. His pastorals were translated into 20 languages” (Britannica online). Contemporary sprinkled calf, leather label and gilt rules and ornaments on spine, edges sprinkled red and blue. Some soiling and light foxing, but a very good copy. Item #67035
