Cairo, the Pyramids, Thebes, Mount Sinai, Suez, Akaba, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Jericho and the Dead Sea, Jordan, Palmyra, and Damascus, among other places visited. Somewhat later black polished sheep (spine ends a little frayed, joints and corners rubbed), gilt, boards framed with a triple-gilt rule, spine richly gilt with ornaments and leather label between raised bands, marbled endpapers and edges. Employed as a prize binding, with a full-page 1849 “first prize’ inscription on the verso of the frontispiece. Wanting the half-title, else very good. Item #67026
