Inscribed by the author to the wife of the English translator of another of his books (The Passion of Yang Kwe-Fei by Covici, Friede, 1928) Henry Bedford-Jones in 1927 (in part “En homage pour Madame Bedford-Jones pour Henry Bedford-Jones”). Soulie de Morant (1878-1955), French scholar and diplomat, introduced acupuncture to the west and translated Chinese and Japanese literature; Bedford-Jones (1887-1949), an American novelist and contributor to pulps, produced almost all of his large output during the period, 1914-1928. Original brown decorated wrappers (spine worn) bound into green cloth, the upper boards with a color illustrated Japanese paper only, the boards tied through three punch-holes at the spine.
