Buckton / from / A. Tennyson / I am sorry to say that there are a great many mistakes / in this volume. No fault of mine! / Jany. 21st / 1882.” Buckton (1818-1905; English chemist and entomologist) was the father of poet Alice Buckton and a “near neighbor” of Tennyson (cf. Wikipedia). Brown straight-grain leather (rubbed, corners bumped, boards framed with an ornamental rule within a thin double-rule, leather label, ornaments, and rules between raised bands on spine, gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, a.e.g. Clipped newspaper Tennyson poem affixed to rear endpaper, offset from laid in trade card on a front endpaper, a little foxing, but a very good copy.
