[Washington, D.C. 1865]. Broadside. Engraved invitation, printed on stiff card stock, 29 x 24 cm. Designed & drawn by Bruff. Engraved by Dempsey & O'Toole. Vignette portraits of Lincoln and Johnson, surrounded by two columns on which eagles perch, and stone steps printed with the dates 1777-83, 1812-15, and 1860-65. In the center are printed three columns of names of the managers of the ball, headed by Hannibal Hamlin, and including several military and political figures. This invitation has not been filled in with an invitee's name. Small chip to lower corner, closed puncture near the left hand column of names, affecting a few letters, else a clean copy. Item #66746
