NY: December 7, 1855. Printed broadsheet. 25 x 20 cm. (2)pp. Old fold lines, a bit unevenly trimmed along top edge. The letter, addressed "Dear Sir-" gives the reason the building was needed and lack of another space suitable to hold their annual fair. Signed in type by D. Meredith Reese, Chairman, and several trustees. The Institute was successful in securing funds to purchase the Crystal Palace a magnificent building, unfortunately in 1858 during the Institute's annual fair it burned down. Item #66661
