Grant was appointed Lieutenant General and General-in-Chief of the Union forces by President Lincoln in March 1864, entitling him to wear three stars on his shoulder straps. Not in Bland. One chip to upper border and a three inch closed tear taped on verso, spotting and foxing to paper. Item #66628
