New York, [NY]: Currier & Ives, 152 Nassau St. (after 1864). Lithograph. 50 x 41 cm. A piercing portrait of Grant in military uniform with three star shoulder straps. Grant was appointed Lieutenant General and General-in-Chief of the Union forces by President Lincoln in March 1864, entitling him to wear three stars on his shoulder straps. Not in Bland. One chip to upper border and a three inch closed tear taped on verso, spotting and foxing to paper. Item #66628
