Woodbury was Senator from New Hampshire at the time this was printed. He became Secretary of the Navy under Jackson, then Secretary of the Treasury under Jackson and Van Buren. He replaced Joseph Story on the Supreme Court and served until his death. Kennedy was a writer and politician from Maryland. He opposed slavery and once wrote that witnessing a speech by Frederick Douglass had opened his eyes more fully to the "curse" of slavery. Item #66593
