A few neat ink annotations in margins. The jury deliberated only 15 minutes before acquitting Baldwin, whose charges were supported by independent investigation. The affair undermined public confidence in lotteries and led the NY legislature in 1819 to pass a law prohibiting any new lottery licenses and imposing strictures on existing ones.
