COMING / ORA MARTIN, INC. / UNCLE / TOM'S / CABIN / UNDER BIG TENT / 24-PEOPLE-25 / [vertical line separating text into two panels] / Uncle / Tom's / Cabin / 25 - People - 25 / The Old Original [complete text].

[Prairie City, IA?]: Ora Martin, Inc., nd [ca. 1925]. Advertising poster for a production of the play, 28 x 42 inches, large block letters (to 5 inches) printed in red, two separate texts printed on the same sheet, separated by a red vertical rule. Ora Martin, Inc., was a "tent-and-truck [show] troupe from Prairie City, Iowa, perhaps one of the last in existence ... Ora Martin, the owner of the show, said there were only two 'Uncle Tom shows' still touring" (Edward Morrow "Poor Old Uncle Tom" in "Prairie Schooner," Vol. 4, No. 3, Summer 1930, pp. 174-180). OCLC locates four copies, all, as here, not separated (Yale, Harvard, Library Co. of Philadelphia, Virginia). A little wear at the extremities and along the spine, but a very good example and a wonderful evocation of small-town Midwestern touring theater groups of the late-19th and early-20th centuries. Folded. (8663). Item #66321
