Includes lists of trustees, faculty, students by class, graduates, courses of study and departments, schedule, etc. Original printed pink wrappers (soiled, front wrapper detached); old library blindstamp, overstamped “withdrawn.” Accompanied by 11 ephemeral items from graduations in 1888 (1 item), 1890 (3), 1891 (3), and 1893 (4), primarily simple handbills printing schedules of commencement exercises, examinations, concerts, a class prize concert, and literary debates (illustrated with a wood engraving of Biddle’s main building). Established in 1867 as Biddle Memorial Institute in Charlotte, this HCBU became Biddle University in 1876 and Johnson C. Smith University in 1923. For Biddle University, OCLC seems to locate only a copy of the 1890 catalogue and an archive of material beginning with that date (Johnson C. Smith).
