A list of post offices in North Carolina, printed by the Government Printing Office in 1852-53 includes locations at Jefferson (Ashe County), Panther Creek (Surry County), and Reddies River (Wilkes County). One of the contractors for the transportation of mail in the state at that time was Bland & Dunn and their Great Northern & Southern Stage Line. Presumably J.M. Bland was sole proprietor by the time of this waybill in 1859.
