Camden, Ala. "Southern Republic " print, 1851. Broadside, 32.5 x 15.5 cm. Printed in various sizes and styles of type, all enclosed in ornamental border. Some chipping around edges, uneven toning to paper. The "Programme" in three parts, is given below the title, and includes a number of polkas, waltzes and songs. Little material from this school seems to have survived. "The Wilcox Female Institute, in Camden, Wilcox County, was established around 1850 as a boarding school for girls. It is the oldest educational landmark in the area and was one of the most prestigious in the state at the time. The academy closed in 1910."
