Utica [NY]: Oct. 26th, 1833. Broadsheet. 33 x 20 cm. Wrinkled, with a vertical tear in the text, affecting a few letters. Apparently unrecorded. On the verso, dated 5 Sept. 1832, is printed a letter from Jervis to William Small and Associates at Herkimer, concerning a plan for developing the Herkimer Water Power Company by excavation in order to provide sufficient water resources. Jervis, a Civil Engineer, refers to this letter in the communication to the Directors on the recto, where he writes more generally of the project which concerns developing Herkimer to become a woolen manufacturing town. [See DAB for an account of Jervis who was extensively involved with both water and railway development in New York state, including the Erie Canal and the Delaware and Hudson Canal]. Item #66121
