Nickles, Grand High Priest and Jacob DeWitt, Grand Secretary. Proclamation thanking Brig. Gen'l. James W. Forsyth, 1st Lieut. James F. Bell, 1st Lieut. William J. Nicholson, 1st Lieut. Albert J. Russell and associate officers for their hosting of the Masons on August 23, 1894 at Fort Riley. Forsyth commanded the Seventh Cavalry at the Wounded Knee Massacre in 1890. Bell, though assigned to Seventh, was on leave and not there and would later receive the Medal of Honor in the Spanish American War. Nicholson was involved in action at Wounded Knee serving as Whitside’s Acting Adjutant of First Battalion and was called to testify in the investigation. Item #66083
