Phillips describes his service in the 44th New York Infantry in the Virginia campaign surrounding Chancellorsville and his wounding at Gettysburg; following recovery, he was commissioned a lieutenant and commanded his brigade’s pioneers, building bridges and other preparatory work for troop movements in the Virginia campaigns of 1864, ultimately being among the first to enter Richmond in April, 1865. Phillips also describes his service in Texas and Arkansas following the war. Not in Dornbusch or Broadfoot. Apparently not recorded on OCLC. Original printed stiff brown wrappers. Very good.
