Cheraw & Darlington Railroad [caption title for a document partly printed on gold paper and completed in manuscript, accepting shipment of 2 ½ barrels of liquor].
The receipt is illustrated with a small printed covered wagon pulled by two horses and printed: “Received in my Wagon, in good order and condition from Agent, the following packages, viz: … which I promise to deliver in like good order and condition to “Columbus Whitby” (Condition of Contents unknown).” The billhead is dated “186_,” the final digit to be supplied in manuscript (not done so here). The Cheraw & Darlington Railroad opened in 1853, running from Florence to Cheraw via Darlington. Folded, else very good. Item #66058
