CATALOGUE OF FRESH SPRING DRY GOODS, and Superfine Cloths, to Be Sold at Auction by Gillingham, Mitchell & Co., at Their Warehouse, No. 22, North Second Street, on Tuesday [M]orning, January 26th, 1830, at 10 ½ o’clock [drop-title]

(Philadelphia, PA: William Brown, Printer), 1830. Folio (33 cm). 4, (1) pp. The auction included 148 numbered lots of wholesale textiles, the catalogue set up in tabular form to include lot number, number of items in the lot, a description of the goods, and space for “Remarks” (this copy without additions). Among the earliest such trade items we have encountered, providing insight into the fashion of the times as well as the process for the sale of imported Dry Goods by merchants in the large eastern cities. Not in American Imprints. OCLC locates one copy, with unnumbered pages and lacking the final page (American Antiquarian Society). Apparently once used as a scrapbook of some kind, with a number of adhesions where the extra material was removed, but only a few words or letters were taken in the process; some browning and staining to edges, but still a good copy of a rear trade auction catalogue.
