COMPANY B, 16th N. H. VOLUNTEERS.

NP: np, [1862]. Broadside. 30 x 17 cm. Two poems, printed in two columns, separated by a thin rule. The first has 19 stanzas of six lines each, under the bold header "Company B, 16th N.H. Volunteers." The second is titled "The Sword Presentation," with 7 stanzas of six lines each. The verses describe the story of Capt. Albert J. Hersey a graduate of Dartmouth College who was in Texas teaching school when war broke out. He was forced to serve in the Confederate army, but after a year's service escaped and found his way to Union lines. He was then commissioned Captain of this Company, this and more is told in the verse. Only one other copy located on OCLC at the NH Historical Society Library from which is taken the publication date. Item #65597
