Signed in type by Richardson at the conclusion, with a [blank] form for subscribers' names below. The publisher announces his intention to publish a monthly magazine devoted to historical subjects, and to offer condensed official reports from the proceedings of the numerous State Historical Societies organized through-out the United States. Contributions are also solicited. A list of 37 prominent historians and literary figures interested in this project is printed including Edward Everett, Wm. H. Prescott, Samuel Drake, Lyman Draper, etc. The magazine was to be published "in small quarto form, and will be published in monthly numbers of thirty two pages each, of the size of this sheet, two dollars per annum."
