Field Esq. of New York / by the Publishers.” Field (1819-1892), American businessman who started the Atlantic Telegraph Company, led a group of investors that financed and laid the first transatlantic cable that was completed the year this march was published. Original illustrated wrappers (Lith. by Sarony, Major & Knapp, N.Y.), featuring an oval portrait of Field flanked by an array of national flags, a cross-section of the telegraph cable, with key, above the portrait and ships on the sea below, all enclosed within a thin-rule border. Disbound from a volume of sheet music, soiled, and top edge trimmed (taking the top half of the first line of the dedication). Item #65439
