COMPLETE OFFICIAL ROUTE SIG SAUTELLES, Season 1904, 26 Weeks: Nine Consolidated R.R. Shows.

Homer, NY: Jas. A. Morrow (Schoch Print, Mifflinburg, Pa.), 1904. Six-panel route book (folded to 16mo) for the company, printing stops from April 29 through October 29, 1904, from Homer, New York, through cities in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, western Massachusetts, the Adirondacks and Finger Lakes regions of New York, and back through Pennsylvania and New Jersey to “Home Sweet Home.” Sautelle (1848-1828) began his circus career in the 1880s travelling by boat from town to town along the Erie Canal; he expanded the business and started using a train for longer seasons, but his full success ended during the season represented here when his wife suffered a stroke. He started a new circus in 1911, but his wife’s health deteriorated, she died, and he was forced into bankruptcy. Apparently not recorded on OCLC; we were unable to find a record for any Sig Sautelle route book. Original printed self-wrappers. Very good. Item #65357
