LONG ISLAND FARMER ON THE BURNING OF HIS MILL, on the Morning of December, and Its History. [Caption title]

Little Neck, L.I, [NY]: np, Dec. 28th [1889?]. Broadside. 19 x 13 cm. Poem in 29 stanzas, printed in two columns, separated by a rule, signed in type by Bloodgood H. Cutter. Mark Twain wrote this of Cutter "He is 50 years old, and small for his age. He dresses in homespun, and is a simple minded, honest, old-fashioned farmer with a strange proclivity for writing rhymes. He writes them on all possible subjects and gets them printed on slips of paper with his portrait at the head. These he will give to any man that comes along, whether he has anything against him or not." Cutter (1817-1906) was a prolific writer whose works are hard to find today. OCLC: NHL, ZBM, E8W, PAU, RBN. Item #65262
