A promotional ad for this pump, capable of being used as a common log pump, but easily adaptable "by turning a screw, [to] be made to act as a Fire Engine, an Irrigator, or to convey water for domestic purposes to any part of even a large house." Included are printed testimonials from satisfied customers. Signed in type at the conclusion by John F. Brickly [sic] of Huntsville, Madison County, Indiana. [Accompanied by:] Printed note. 10.5 x 17 cm. Signed in type at conclusion by [Congressman] David Kilgore (R-Ind.), House of Representatives, Washington City, Jan. 25, 1859, addressed to Brickley, acknowledging receipt of a printed notice of the Force Pump and validating the testimonials by attesting to the character of Dr. J. Robertson, G.A. Smith, Isaac Pittsford, Elijah Williams and George Walker, "whose certificates are annexed thereto" as "all gentlemen of good repute, and in whose statement I have the most impartial confidence."
