SPEECH OF THE NATIONAL ROAD BILL, Delivered in the House of Representatives, March, 1830.

The bill in question was designed to provide for the construction of a road from Buffalo, New York, through Washington, D. C., to New Orleans. Barbour (1783-1841), a native of Gordonsville, Virginia, served in the House, 1814-1825 and 1827-1830, as Speaker, 1821-1823, and served as an Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, 1836-1841. Tear and stain in lower margin of title leaf, but a very good, mostly unopened copy. Original printed self-wrappers (soiled). (10931). Item #64584
