TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN [drop-title].

[Elizabeth City, NC?]: Dept. of Immigration, Norfolk & Southern R.R., nd [ca. 1900]. Printed broadside, 11 x 5 1/4 inches, bold headline and three long paragraphs of text [printed double-column] on top half, the bottom with a partly printed form headed "Statement." Signed in type by R.O. Preyer, Manager of information for the Immigration Dept. of the Norfolk & Southern R.R., the text beneath the headline describes a picture of fertile lands along the railway in eastern North Carolina lying unused and ready for agricultural development, encouraging owners and prospective sellers to complete the appended statement, offering said lands for sale, the railroad promising to give all advertisements full exposure in its various publications. Apparently not in Thornton. OCLC locates one copy (North Carolina, dating it 1890 which seems early as the Norfolk & Southern wasn't officially formed until 1891). Few small separations at central fold, else very good. (10299). Item #63848
