IMPORTANT TO FARMERS!! / WILLIAMS' VARIETY / PLOW. / [followed by 27 lines describing the plow]. Signed in type by the plow's patentee William B. Williams of Warrenton, N.C.

Warrenton, NC: Printed at the News office, 1859. First edition (?). Printed broadside, 11 x 8 1/4 inches, employing several sizes and styles of type, including an elaborate large ornamental display type for the word "Plow," the entire text enclosed within a wide ornamental border. The text describes two types of plows Williams had patented and announces the patentee's interest in selling "County & State Rights for both." The most elaborate of the two could be converted into eight varieties of plows; both could be purchased at Williams, Collins & Co. stores in Warrenton, Weldon, or Wilson. The final four lines of text offer a recommendation for the plows, signed in type by six satisfied "subscribers." Other than the Warrenton News (published 1850-1861), we were unable to locate ante-bellum imprints for the city. Not Hummel. Apparently not recorded on OCLC. Foxed, several tears at folds (one letter missing at a corner fold). A nice agricultural broadside for display and a rare Warrenton imprint. (10365). Item #63791
