Brief biographies of 458 Confederate veterans, providing “an interesting key to postwar occupations of a sample group” (Nevins). Laid in is a copy of a 1908 resolution on the death of Frederick Wolf, one of the "sons of Gideon," listed in the book. Original gray cloth, some spotting and soiling, bottom of spine a bit frayed. Hinges amateurishly repaired, previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown. A good copy. Item #63782
