MONOGRAMS OF WILLIAM FORSYTH, 1897. [ms. caption title]

A scrapbook collection of samples of printed monograms, embossed logos, letterheads, etc., for hotels, businesses, government offices, railway companies, schools and universities primarily in Washington D.C., New England, and New Jersey, plus a scattering in the mid-western and southern states, and a handful in Europe. The examples, ranging in size from 1 x 1 in. (or slightly smaller) to 3 x 6 in., are neatly clipped from letterheads, envelopes, etc., and laid down several to a page, on 32 pages of lined paper, rectos only, in a blank book, marbled boards (unevenly faded), with chipped, worn cloth spine, front board detached. Additional clipped printing samples laid in loose. They display a wide range of printing styles and typefaces, some (particularly the school pennants) include color illustrations. Item #63666
