Four volumes bound as one: 80; 59, iii, ii; 65, (1); [67]-75, III, II, (1) pp. Laws and acts of North Carolina passed toward the end of the Civil War and in its immediate aftermath. Public laws included a number aimed at the organization of the home guard, disabled soldiers, the relief of soldiers' families, and returning Confederate soldiers and prisoners of war; a resolution was taken up concerning the arming of slaves. With the stamp for the law library of George Green of New Bern, N.C.; with the additional owner's signature "Wm. J. Clarke," possibly the Confederate colonel by that name (1818-1886) who commanded the 24th North Carolina and was active in New Bern following the war as a lawyer and in business and politics. Some toning to the paper, but a good copy. Contemporary law sheep (rubbed, joints cracked). (10175). Item #63504
