This group of catalogues and sources on the history of Yale was collected by Isaac S. Newton, Class of 1848 (his library bookplate on both front pastedowns). Some scuffing and wear to leather, hinges reinforced with cloth tape. A good, solid set.

According to an article in the Yale Alumni News By Alison Frick (Sept./Oct. 2011), some 737 Yale students served in the Civil War, on both sides of the conflict. Yale counts 114 Union dead and 54 Confederate dead amongst their ranks.
