NP [New York?]: np [Charles Magnus?], nd [1864?]. Map, 37 x 37 cm., on a 47 x 48 cm. sheet, trimmed to the borders on two sides. Identical image printed on both sides, one in black & white, the other hand colored with a pale watercolor wash. Some shallow chipping and loss along one of the border lines, not affecting map or portraits. Richmond and Petersburg are featured near the center of the map, the Chesapeake Bay to the east, Washington D.C. and parts of Maryland and North Carolina around the edges. Railroads, major roads, rivers, towns, and cities are shown. The portraits around the border include Maj. Gen. McClellan, Lt. Gen. Grant [a rank he attained in March 1864, giving him command of the Union forces], Maj. Gen. W.T. Sherman, Maj. Gen. Hooker, 24 other Major Generals, and 4 Admirals. A number key, 1-16, appears at the edges of the map and the corresponding sections of the border, but no explanatory text given. Item #63057
