A chromolithograph artistic rendering of a prosperous looking small town set in a valley, factories with smoke stacks, church steeples, and domed buildings interspersed with houses. In the fore-ground are stakes marking potential building sites for new homes. Two electric streetcars are shown moving along a track leaving town. The scene is surrounded by a scrolled and floral border. Some chipping and loss to lower right margin of the sheet, not affecting image. Item #63054

Jacob W. Wilbur (1847-1917) was owner of a real estate company in Boston in the late 1800s, and "was the first in that locality to sell small houses to workingmen on installment plans.... to give the working man a chance to own his little home." [see: Wm. R. Cutter's "Memorial Encyclopedia of the State of Massachusetts," (Amer. Historical Society: 1917), vol. 1, pp.128-32]. He developed properties in Boston and its suburbs, and later in Florida.
