First collected and published as a book in 1868, the "Bab Ballads," humorously illustrated light verse, pre-dated Gilbert's collaborations with Sir Arthur Sullivan; "Songs of a Savoyard," the lyrics songs written for the Savoy Operas, were first collected and published in book form in 1890. Fine. Later tree calf, gilt, decorative gilt rule framing each board, spine richly gilt with ornaments between raised bands, leather spine label, all edges gilt, gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, by Morrell.
