Among the thieves involved in the scams and thefts of the 1920s and 1930s described here was Harry Gold (1903-1990) who served a term in jail, 1933-34, for his part in the wrongdoing, but continued his book business on Book Row, moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in the 1970s with a small stock that served him until his death there in 1990.
