Folding map, 71 x 53 cm., hand colored in outline, tipped into a blind-stamped brown cloth folder, with gilt lettering on front board. Lithographed by H. Acheson, 132 Lake Street, Chicago. Cover title on the folder: "D.B. Cooke & Co.'s Railway Map of Illinois." Railroads in operation, and railroads in progress are shown. The map is surrounded by a decorative border. Short splits along some folds, one longer split (approx. 15 cm. extends from the lower edge of the map into an otherwise blank section of the state near the Vincennes & Paducah line. Two indexes, one of the railroads and one of the towns appear on either side of the map. Illustration of a sailing ship, with the caption "Direct by way of R. St. Laurence to Europe," in upper right corner. Some rumpling and toning to map at the folds, else a good copy. Item #62140
