Group of eight pamphlets published by the Tennessee Industrial League, 1898-1899, numbered "Publication No 1 [through 8]," a complete set of pamphlets in this series.

Nashville, TN: The league, 1898-1899. First edition of each of the pamphlets. 8vo, pamphlets ranging 12-48 pp. The first number prints the organization's prospectus and constitution; each of the others consist of essays by prominent Tennessee authors, discussing various issues relating to industry, mining, agriculture, business, or natural resources. Among the contributors are J.B. Killebrew and John Trotwood Moore. In addition to the numbered issues of the league series are five other similar pamphlets dealing with development in Tennessee, at least several of which were also issued by the league; one of those "Advantage and Opportunities of Tennessee as an Agricultural and Manufacturing State" is bound first and sets the stage for the others. Inscribed on the front endpaper by R.A. Halley, chairman of the executive committee of the Tennessee Industrial League. OCLC locates four complete sets of the eight pamphlets published as a series (Tennessee State Archives, Tennessee, Yale, Illinois). Several pamphlets are badly foxed, but a very good sammelband of 13 pamphlets promoting the interests of Tennessee. Contemporary quarter-calf and pebbled cloth, the spine eroded and replaced with binder's tape. (8981). Item #62134
