Meridian, MS: The movement, [1930s]. First edition. Narrow 8vo. (3) pp. Southern Leadership Schools were located in Meridian and Birmingham, Alabama. "The aim of the Better Citizenship Movement … to unite the Southern Negro in an organization for the promotion of the best interests of the race … to school the race in the principles of democracy and better citizenship … to cooperate with officers of the law in their fight against crime … to live a higher standard for the people" [among nine points]. Apparently not recorded on OCLC and we have been unable to find further information on the movement. Poor quality paper browned, else very good. Original printed wrapper. (8548). Item #61628
