Blue cloth with gilt stamped spine some wear to edges, else a fine copy. Bookplate of Henry B. Brown, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court with his signature on titlepage dated 1900. Particularly appropriate reading as in 1901 he would write the opinion in DeLima versus Bidwell considering the status of territories acquired in the Spanish-American War. He is probably known best for having written the opinion Plessy versus Ferguson which upheld "separate but equal" which remained in effect till Brown versus Board of Education. Item #61506
